Thank you for visiting the Rush University Medical Center Heart Health Portal. At Rush, we are
committed to optimizing the health of all of our patients—and keeping
your heart healthy is one of the most important steps you can take to
maintain your overall health. Heart disease and stroke remain the
leading cause of death among American men and women.
Cardiovascular
disease kills almost one million Americans each year—more than all forms
of cancer and the next four leading causes of death combined.
As part of our mission to help
prevent or reduce illness and improve the quality of life for our
patients, the Heart and Vascular Institute at Rush University Medical
Center is making available to its patients a Web-enabled cardiovascular
risk assessment (or CRA) and an array of self-help programs, free of
charge. These programs have been developed by INTERVENT USA, a private
company that specializes in developing lifestyle management and
cardiovascular risk reduction programs. All INTERVENT programs are scientifically based
and have been
proven
effective in numerous research studies.
If
you have not already completed a Cardiovascular Risk Assessment (CRA) to
enroll in an INTERVENT program, your first step
is to complete a brief (approximately 5-10 minutes) CRA. To do so,
